Space for Silence at St Johns Waterloo, with the Loving Earth exhibition

    17:45 -19:45
    2023.11.06
    73 Waterloo Road London SE1 8TY

Come and go as you like. In the candlelit crypt you can meditate — or just breathe — as you choose. There’ll be resources for those who wish to use them, and chairs and bean bags . If you prefer to lie down you may want to bring a yoga mat.

The crypt will be open from 5.45 playing quiet music for those who wish to enter the peaceful space sooner and prepare for the silence which will begin at 6pm.

100 panels from  Loving Earth Project are currently on displaying the Old Crypt at St John’s and this will be an opportunity to reflect more deeply with them.

    Reserve your place here

Rachel Summers: The Parable of the Slug

    19:00 -20:00
    2023.11.06
    73 Waterloo Road London SE1 8TY

As Rachel says: ‘Many people find that they experience spiritual connection more readily when outdoors, and indeed the Bible is full of imagery drawn from the natural world. Creation is well able to speak to us of the creator, and we can take each encounter as our own personal parable, listening to what God wishes to share with us through it.’

Part of the Spirit of Creation series at St John’s

We are increasingly disconnected from the earth and from one another, and we are impoverished as a result.

We are seeing nature despoiled by the same forces that violate and oppress the human spirit. Why is it more compelling to imagine planetary collapse than the end of injustice? How can we change the story? How can we make the connections so urgently needed so that we can work together to create a place where all can flourish?

Climate Fresk workshop at Our World exhibition in Newham

    14:00 -17:00
    2023.11.11
Applecart Arts, The Passmore Edwards Building, 207 Plashet Grove, London E6 1BX

Do you want to be part of the solution to tackle climate change but don’t have the time to become a climate scientist? Join us for a 3-hour interactive workshop to explore the causes and consequences of climate disturbances. Based on the IPCC report and played by over 1M people worldwide, this collaborative workshop allows you to understand the key issues of climate change to empower you to take action.

How it works: – The workshop is based on a 42-card game. Each card represents an element, a cause or a consequence of climate change. – In teams, guided by your facilitator, you are encouraged to find the cause-effect relationship between the different components of climate change. Collective intelligence will get you from one deck of card to the next!

This step-by-step reconstruction provides keys to understand the complexity and develop an overview of climate change. Climate Fresk is an excellent opportunity to understand the key elements of climate change and what you can do to be part of the solution. No previous climate knowledge is needed.

To find out more about Climate Fresk please click here.

The Workshop runs from 14:00pm – 17:00pm and is free to attend. Booking is essential and can be made through Applecart Arts’  Box Office. The recommended age is 15+.
